American Southwest roadtrip – Las Vegas to Page, Arizona

After 3 days full of eating, shopping, and strolling around the Sin City, the jet lag is finally gone and we are ready to continue with some more intense days of our roadtrip. We are leaving Nevada behind and setting the direction towards the national parks in Utah and Arizona.

September 14. This might easily be the most beautiful part of the USA for me. Rocky and mountainous landscapes, ever-changing scenery, and a laid-back atmosphere. We managed to hit a period of crazy rain, where I couldn’t see anything ahead – not the best when you are in the middle of nowhere. Luckily, it only lasted a few minutes and beautiful, clear skies followed.

We grab lunch in St. George and continue driving towards Page. Unfortunately, we won’t have time to explore Zion or Bryce this time around, but at least I have something to come back to!

Page is a small city that tends to be a part of most west-USA travel itineraries. It’s the perfect campground if you want to visit Antelope Canyons, Horseshoe bend, Lake Powell, and other picturesque spots. This time, we decided to take a stroll around the Glen Canyon Dam, offering great views of Lake Powell and once again, showcasing incredible engineering skills!

September 15. Our morning starts with a short walk to Horseshoe bend. A beautiful place, where the Colorado river has created this distinctive U-shaped bend. I recommend coming here during sunset, but no matter what time of the day, the views are spectacular!

After soaking the views in, we sit in the car and drive towards Monument Valley. This place has been on my bucket list for years and even though it’s a long drive to do in one day, I couldn’t resist. However, because of the distance, we choose to only explore the entrance of the park. Short and sweet, but nothing short of beautiful. Just imagine Forest Gump running through this landscape! Definitely leaving this place on my bucket list, to explore further in the future.

We arrive back in Page tired, but our hearts and minds are full of new experiences. And tomorrow, we will drive towards my mom’s biggest dream – the Grand Canyon!
