The shore of Lake Geneva & Swiss Riviera

May 2022

We wake up in our little hotel in Publier, France. Direction Evian!

I normally research where to park, but get convinced that we will definitely find something. Well, we don’t, so we just circle around the town and are about to give up and continue our drive. In the end, we manage to park in Hilton’s hotel garage and walk towards Source Cachat and Source des Cordeliers, where people of Evian come with their empty bottles and fill them up with a fresh mineral water. We can’t resist tasting it – and don’t like it.

After a short stop in the supermarket we sit on a bench by the lake and enjoy a slow French morning.

Cute little French villages soon transform into lovely Swiss ones with majestic mountains on one side and Lake Geneva on the other.

Little pit stop at Chillon – we absolutely love the cute little castle on the lake! And after another short drive, we stop in Montreux. The promenade is buzzing with people, street performers, but the lake is still so calm. No wonder Freddie Mercury loved it here.

We grab lunch at a place called Molino, which we can highly recommend. One of the best carbonaras I’ve had in my life!

The last bigger stop is in Vevey. It’s above 30 degrees and we are burning! But after a short walk we make it to the Alimentarium with a big fork sticking out of the lake. We say hi to a statue of Charlie Chaplin and head towards the car – direction Geneva!
